From: Jan 01, 2009 To: Dec 31, 2009 USA Animals are a test of mankind's capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights or power or some claim to equality, but in a sense because they don't, because they all stand unequal and powerless before us. When we wince at the suffering of animals, that feeling speaks well of us, and those who dismiss love for our fellow creatures as mere sentimentality overlook an important part of our humanity. |

From: Sep 20, 2010 To: Sep 20, 2010 USA Help stop Puppy Mills which are breeding facilities that produce puppies in large numbers. Documented problems of puppy mills include; unsanitary facilities, overbreeding, inbreeding, disease, minimal veterinary care, poor quality of food and shelter, lack of human socialization, overcrowded cages and the killing of unwanted animals. The HSUS estimates that there are over 150,000 dogs kept as "breeders" in US puppy mills. Each one is an individual whose barren life is an avoidable and unjustifiable tragedy. These dogs produce 2-4 million puppies every year...while more than that dies in shelters every year !! These puppies will be sold through seemingly innocent neighborhood pet stores, fancy websites, and local newspapers. Dogs kept for breeding in puppy mills suffer for years and are bred as often as possible before they are killed, sold through auctions like used cars or abandoned. PUPPY MILLS CONTRIBUTE TO MILLIONS OF UNWANTED DOGS WHO ARE EUTHANIZED EACH YEAR IN THE UNITED STATES. PLEASE DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS PETS DIE. |
