Currently, I have 4 cats and a dog and ½. The full dog is a lab/schnauzer mix. The ½ dog is a beagle. My son is with me every other week for a week at a time and he brings his beagle with him (hence the ½ dog). The most rewarding experience while caring for pets or the pets of others has to be the interaction with the pets. All the pets I've taken care of have been friendly and cute.
I chose to be a pit sitter because I love animals and have a soft heart for them.
I have a five-year-old Maine Coon cat named Penny. I absolutely love the happiness animals show when they see you again, whether it has been five minutes or after a full day's work! Caring for animals, mine or the pets of others, has always been extremely satisfying and can brighten anyone\'s day! I have volunteered with the Humane Society when I was in college at Auburn University in Alabama. I also worked as a veterinary assistant and have completed internships with vet clinics in Auburn, AL. I absolutely love animals and know that pets add something special to our lives, but sometimes we can get busy or may be away for extended periods. It can be difficult to find someone you feel comfortable leaving your pet with! Whether you need a daily walk for you dog or extended visit for your cat while you are away, I would love to be that person!
I’m a retired medical social worker who is very much a pet person. We used Fetch to board our dog but when he passed away from cancer we weren’t ready for another pet. Fetch has been a great situation for me to provide folks with the experience of personal, quality pet care and I get to spend time with some awesome animals! I have truly enjoyed my time with Fetch. Research continues to show that having pets keeps us healthy, and the unconditional love they give is something we can learn from. I have helped at the birthing of puppies, been there more than once when a dog took its’ last breath, and everything in between. I have owned and cared for large dogs and small, cats, pets with various medical disabilities, and my husband (whoops, how did he get in there?!). I always look forward to my next opportunity to provide trusted pet care to another Fetch family!
I've been a true animal lover all of my life, and pets just simply make life so much better. They are your forever friend for life. Whether you're sad or happy, they can't wait to see you after a long day. I've loved bonding with different breeds of dogs that I've never been around and learning new things about them. One of my past pet sitting jobs were 2 Basenjis named Kiska and Spot, prior to meeting them I knew nothing about their breed except what I read on google. By the end of the week, they had really warmed up to me and I was sad to leave them! In the past, I've worked at the Spokane Humane Society as a kitty cuddler; it was very hard not to take a few of them home with me. Since my living situation has restricted me from being able to have pets this is my way to be around pets while earning some extra money on the side. I've gained memories and tons of pictures of all of the animals that I've cared for that I'll cherish forever.
Working for Fetch has become a blessing in my life. I have volunteered at animal shelters and I love to go visit pet stores or the Humane Society, just to look. Being a pet owner is very important to me. I have had my Weimaraner/Retriever Rosie for 10 years. I know that the pets I care for have moms and dads just like me who want the very BEST for their companion. After a pet service, I love to hear from the owner(s) that their pet is happy and healthy, most importantly how thankful they are that I was there for them and took care of the pet as if it was my own. Giving peace of mind is one of the biggest reasons I love working with Fetch.
I have a beautiful Russian Blue cat that we adopted from the Humane Society four years ago. I have experience with many kinds of dogs including Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Great Pyrenees, and Golden Retrievers. They have been both working and non-working dogs. Pets are very special animals; They\'re fun, they\'re a joy, they bring a smile to my face. I also intrinsically understand that people\'s pets are their \"babies\" and they want them treated as such. I have helped my mother care for her herd of sheep in the past by feeding, helping with vaccinations, and tagging. I also help care for approximately 20 chickens and ducks for a friend. I love animals. Pet sitting allows me to meet all kinds of pets and spend quality time with them.
I can't remember a time in my life without pets. I have had a variety dogs, big and small, cats, guinea pigs, a rabbit, turtle, and one unfortunate gerbil.
Dogs are my favorite though. I became very aware, this past fall, how attached we become to them when we need to leave for a day or two and can't take them with us. I cancelled a trip because I didn't have anyone RELIABLE to take care of my Sam the way I wanted or would. I wish I would have known about Fetch!
I have had a number of dogs throughout my life but enjoyed my German Shepherd the most. The close relationship that I developed by taking him to obedience training and working with him at home was very special. I enjoy pet sitting because it gives me the opportunity to meet various breeds of dogs and is especially rewarding because of the appreciation the pets show when they realize that I am there just to be with them.
"I have had a strong connection with animals my entire life. I grew up spending a lot of time on a family farm in Upstate New York where I dealt with animals on a daily basis. My family bred Golden Retrievers and raised horses. So, I was faced with the opportunity to learn and love pets very early on. Although I love all animals, dogs have always been my favorite. Upon moving to Washington, I came across Fetch! and it was a perfect fit. I love all of my clients and I work very hard to the best I possibly can to ensure their pets are not only taken care of, but loved and made to feel as comfortable as possible while they are in my care. I currently have my own dog-child that is a blue merle rough coat collie named Laika."
Growing up on a Spokane area farm with a wide variety of animals showed me the value of having pets in your life. I cannot imagine going without the joy & companionship that they bring each day. My boxer, Buster, & I love exercise & enjoy meeting other dogs and owners on our outings. I decided to become a petsitter because I enjoy being able to provide reliable & loving care knowing how important it is to everyone that has a pet.
